Workplace Emergency Safety (WES) Training Courses

MD-SAFETY offers Workplace Emergency Safety (WES) Courses which are specially designed for industry wide application.
Courses are aligned to the widely accepted Australian Public Safety Training Package – Workplace Emergency Response - Industry wide competencies (PUA00 V12), and meet the requirements of AS 3745:2010 Planning for emergencies in facilities), and of course, WHS legislation.

Confine small workplace emergencies PUAWER 008B (Fire Extinguisher use)

This unit covers the competency required to confine small workplace emergencies.Small workplace emergencies may include such incidents as a small fire that can be controlled using a nearby fire extinguisher; or a chemical spill that can be controlled using workplace personal protective clothing and equipment, and a small spill kit; or a workplace vehicle accident where there is no significant injury or damage. 3 hours face-to-face training

Identify, prevent and report potential workplace emergency situations PUAWER001B

This unit covers the competency required to identify and prevent the development of workplace emergency situations, or to minimise their consequences, and to report if emergency protection systems, emergency control equipment and evacuation systems are compromised. 3 hours face-to-face training

Lead an emergency control organisation PUAWER006B

This unit covers the competency required to make decisions about people's safety during a workplace emergency and to give instructions on the priority order for responding to the emergency incident area.

Operate as part of an emergency control organisation PUAWER005B

This unit covers the competency required to implement the emergency response specified in the workplace emergency procedures or specified by a person at a higher level in the emergency control organisation. People who undertake this work will be working within the command, control and coordinate structure of the emergency control organisation. 4 hours face-to-face training

Respond to workplace emergencies PUAWER004B (Fire/emergency evacuation)

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide preparation for an emergency situation, report potential and real emergencies, respond and evacuate from a work area. This unit covers the competency required to recognise emergencies in the workplace, to report emergencies and to take appropriate action. 3-4 hours face-to-face training

Fire and Emergency Safety Level 1

Prevention/Evacuation/Suppression
This 2-3 hour course covers the competencies required by employees to be able to prevent, prepare and respond to a workplace emergency including where required, the practical use of emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, hose reels, fire blankets and other building safety equipment, used in first-attack emergency situations. It also covers a realistic practical evacuation exercise.

Fire and Emergency Safety Level 2 Emergency Wardens

This 4 hour course builds on skills learnt in the basic course and provides workplace Wardens/Team Leaders with the skills and knowledge to safely undertake their positions, including emergency response and evacuation management.

Fire and Emergency Safety Level 3 - Senior Warden
- MD-SAFETY Code MDWES003:
This course runs for 1 day and equips senior workplace personnel to fulfill a role establishing and managing an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) as part of an ongoing role on the organisations Emergency Planning Committee (EPC). MDWES003 has a strong emphasis on emergency prevention, preparedness and evacuation management.

Bushfire Safety Training Levels 1& 2

For workplaces in bush-fire prone areas MD-SAFETY offers two bushfire safety courses, including Basic and Advanced bush fire safety. These courses are designed to equip workplace personnel with the knowledge and skills to safely protect people and property from bushfire as part of appropriate prevention and response strategies being undertaken.
